“I want something done, but what’s the process?”
At Kilo Arms, we make the customization process simple, transparent, and headache-free. Whether you want a fully built, made-to-order firearm or want to send in your own gear for custom work, here’s exactly how it works:
1. Choose Your Starting Point
You’ve got two options:
A) Build a Made-to-Order Firearm
Browse our curated selection of frames, slides, and parts. Pick your stipple pattern, laser engravings, Cerakote colors, and any add-ons.
Once you’re done, check out like normal – we’ll handle the build.
B) Send Us Your Firearm or Part
If you already own the item you want customized, choose the service you’re looking for:
- Laser engraving
- Laser stippling
- Hand stippling
- Cerakote
- Standalone Frame Modifications
Select the options you want, add to cart, and proceed to checkout.
2. Choose Your Payment Method
For customization services, we offer two ways to pay:
- Pay in Full: Fastest turnaround.
- Deposit Option: Pay 25% upfront, ship us your item, and pay the remainder when your job is complete.
- (Deposit option is only for customization services – not for retail products.)
3. Ship Your Items to Us
After checkout, you’ll receive an email with:
- Shipping instructions
- Any required forms
- Our FFL info (if applicable)
- If you’re sending a serialized part (frame/receiver), it MUST ship legally through a carrier following all federal and state laws.
PROTIP: We recommend using a service like “Shipmygun.com” to ship your firearm. They ensure the applicable laws/regulations are being met and that your shipment is delivered to our FFL Address. When searching for our FFL, on shipmygun.com, our zip code is 59230 and we will be listed as “Kilo Arms LLC”. They also will save you a bunch of money off of the retail cost of shipping.
4. We Begin the Work
Once your item arrives and is checked in, our techs begin your project:
- Laser stippling: We precision-map your frame, run test tiles, and dial in your pattern.
- Hand stippling: Edges, borders, and texture are refined by hand for maximum grip and feel.
- Cerakote: We fully disassemble, blast, prep, and spray with proper bake cycles for a factory-level finish.
- Engraving: Logos, text, patterns, or deep engravings – perfectly centered and consistent.
- We send updates as needed, and you’re welcome to email us for progress photos.
5. Final Review & Payment (If Using Deposit Option)
Once your project is finished, you’ll receive:
- Completion photos
- Final invoice (if you chose deposit option)
- Estimated ship-back date
- Your item ships out as soon as the final balance is paid.
6. Delivery Back to You
- We carefully package and return your customized item to you via insured shipping.
Serialized items will require adult signature to ensure safe delivery.
Turnaround Times
Turnaround varies based on workload, but most projects are completed within:
- Laser engraving: 1–15 days
- Stippling: 2-3 weeks
- Cerakote: 3-4 weeks
- Full builds: less than 5 weeks
- Rush options may be available – contact us for details.
Please keep in mind that these timelines are not guaranteed and that sometimes life can cause delays. All of the customization is done by one guy, and I will work as hard as I can to meet or exceed your expectations. If you need a project by a certain date – there will be a field that you can annotate that during checkout.
